Great Grant Writing

Join arts organizer Sophie Edwards in a workshop that examines the world of grant-writing. Sophie will share what’s she learned from her successful (and unsuccessful) grant-writing for public funding from organizations like the Ontario Arts Council, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Sport, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund, and others. Participants will build on one of their own existing grants with the aim of telling your story (narrative grant-writing) clearly, succinctly, and with sophistication. We’ll look at what makes grants stand out, communicate the goals, impact and place of the project in your community.

Participants should come with a laptop, digital copy of an existing grant, as well as one printed copy of a grant proposal (finished, unfinished, successful or unsuccessful). Participants who bring a printed copy will be entered into a draw, and the winner will receive a free 2-hour one-on-one consultation with Sophie.

Sophie Edwards is the Executive Director of 4elements Living Arts. She has been writing grants applications for over 15 years.
