Marketing Basics – Getting Started!

In this lecture seminar, participants will gain an overview of the common marketing types (direct marketing, active marketing, incoming marketing, outgoing marketing, Guerrilla marketing, B2B Marketing, B2C marketing and promotional marketing) as well as an introduction to the practical use and applications of social media in marketing.  This seminar will also highlight the most common marketing mistakes made by business and entrepreneurs. At the end of the seminar, participants will  be asked to reflect and think about practices and tools to include in their own marketing strategy going forward.

Beverley Roy-Carter, B.A. (Hons), M.B.A.,

Ms. Roy-Carter is currently the Director of Business and Training at Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute.  Her formal learning consists of an undergraduate degree in Accounting with a Minor in Sociology from the University of Waterloo and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Athabasca University.  Beverley’s ongoing professional development and continuous learning interests are from the Harvard Extension School on the themes of social entrepreneurship, educational innovation and education policy analysis.
